Paisley on Parade.
History: Originating in Asia, paisley is traditionally a teardrop shape with a curving point containing and surrounded by many small abstract and geometric designs. Paisley is a droplet-shaped vegetal motif, similar to half of the T’ai Chi symbol, the Indian bodhi tree leaf, or the mango tree. The design originated in India and spread to Scotland when British soldiers brought home cashmere shawls.
Today this pattern is having another moment in its long line of moments. From TOPSHOP to Bergdorf Goodman, some of the most popular and desirable retailers & brands have incorporated paisley into their A/W 12 line, with muted tones and color combinations.
Today’s post is dedicated to some of the great items available right now – my favorite is this quilted silk skirt by J.W. Anderson for TOPSHOP (oh please restock in my size!). I adore how Blair at Atlantic-Pacific styled it here. You can be sure that I will be checking Topshop.com frequently.
